About Us

Shweetbakes is situated on a beautiful wheat and cattle farm about 12km from Durbanville. The farm is called Occultdale, which means Hidden Valley.  Shweetbakes was established in 2012 and is owned and managed by qualified pastry chef, Phelia Loubser.

Phelia has worked as a chartered accountant in the corporate environment for 7 years. In 2012, she decided to follow her lifelong passion and to become a chef and enrolled as a student at Silwood Kitchens in Rondebosch to become a qualified pastry chef.  She has never looked back at her decision and her baking kitchen is really her ‘happy place’.

In 2014, the home kitchen was renovated to include a separate baking kitchen, to accommodate the increasing number of orders. She enjoys working as a chef, as it means that she can also be near her two small boys.At Shweetbakes we are passionate about using the freshest ingredients available (prefably local) to deliver tasty and visually appealing products. We also aim to offer a professional customer experience and will always deliver on time.We only use free range eggs, which are from our own chickens that we keep on the farm. Unlike many shop bought baked items, we add no artificial shelf life extenders to any of our products. family photo

Except for our rusks and a few products from our pantry range, all cakes and baked goods are made on order. We like to cater for the special needs of each customer. If you can dream it, we can make it.
